Steve is a chartered Town Planner with over 30 years in practice having worked for a variety of local planning authorities across England. During his career, he has operated at all levels including as a case work expert, leading both Development Management and Spatial Plan teams, as a Chief Officer and Corporate Strategic Director.

Steve has particular experience in evolving clear future visions for places and the formulation of effective tactical approaches in order to successfully steer the planning process through collaborating with the development industry, to deliver shared sustainable growth ambitions.

Steve has acted as Chief Planning Officer at Huntingdonshire, where he led the planning of a major new settlement and enterprise zone at Alconbury West. Working alongside the landowner, Urban & Civic to secure the local plan allocation and deliver an outline planning application for 6,500 new homes, including major strategic infrastructure. As Corporate Director with South Kesteven District Council, Steve worked with the landowners and County Council to achieve the designation of a new settlement on the edge of Grantham as a Garden Village. Spitalgate Heath will deliver over 3000 homes and strategic infrastructure in a comprehensive new community that will support the regeneration of Grantham. Steve led the policy formulation for Spitalgate Heath and the collaborative masterplanning process that will underpin the outline planning application.
