Hyas are pleased to announce that Jim Fox, Helen Flage and Steve Ingram have all joined our expanded team as Associates. Their appointments significantly increase our capacity to support the planning and delivery of large scale schemes, particularly in the North but also nationally.

Jim is a well-known and highly respected planner and urban designer. He has over 30 years’ experience in urban design and masterplanning, successfully leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver large-scale infrastructure-led masterplanning, public realm and planning developments. He has recently been Head of Urban Design for Gillespies’ northern office and is continuing to work with them on a number of projects.

Hyas have worked closely with Jim over a number of years, including work at St Cuthbert’s Garden Village, where he led a team from Gillespies to evolve a concept design for the site. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience around placemaking from both commercial and public sectors. He will initially support Steve Hill in our ongoing role at St Cuthbert’s.

It is very exciting to be working under the Hyas banner – starting with St Cuthbert’s Garden Village Carlisle. We have a shared ethos that helps us to hit the ground running with local authority clients on garden communities projects as they prepare for recovery from the current COVID19 situation.” (Jim Fox)

Helen Flage has more than 20 years’ experience in planning, urban design and masterplanning. She was previously a key part of the ATLAS team in the north and shares our ethos and ambition for planning and delivering high quality, sustainable places. She is a panel member of the Places Matter North West Design Review Panel 2020-23 and adds considerable strength to our place making offer.

Steve is a chartered Town Planner with over 30 years in practice, having worked for a variety of local planning authorities across England. Notably, Steve was directly involved in the planning and delivering of Alconbury new community in Cambridgeshire and progressing Spitalgate Garden Village in Grantham. During his career, he led both Development Management and Spatial Plan teams, as a Chief Officer and Corporate Strategic Director and is a past President of the Planning Officers Society.  Steve brings particular experience in evolving clear future visions for places and the formulation of effective strategies, in order to successfully steer the planning process through a collaborative approach.
