Volunteering at FareShare Midlands

This week, the team spent a day volunteering with FareShare Midlands and it was a genuinely rewarding experience.

As planners, we're passionate about creating places and communities that work better for people. It was great to spend a day contributing in a different way, helping to sort and redistribute surplus food that would otherwise go to waste.

The impact of organisations like FareShare is incredible. Nearly 1 million children in the Midlands are living in poverty, while millions of tonnes of edible food are wasted each year.

Through our volunteering day, the team helped save food equivalent to 4,050 meals, which will be distributed to vulnerable and marginalised people across the region.

Beyond the numbers, it was a fantastic team-building experience and a reminder of the important work being done by charities and volunteers every day to support local communities and reduce food waste.

A huge thank you to everyone at FareShare Midlands for making us feel so welcome and for the opportunity to get involved. We're proud to have played a small part in supporting such an important cause.
