In the past few months, we have been awarded a number of new commissions relating to strategic sites and pre-applications support. Some of the new commissions include:
ROTHERHAM BASSINGTHROPE FARM SPD
We are delighted to confirm that we been commissioned by Rotherham MBC to prepare a new SPD for the Bassingthorpe Farm Strategic site, on the edge of Rotherham town centre. The site is allocated for 2,400 new homes in the Council’s adopted core strategy, with the aim of creating a ‘21st century garden suburb of the highest quality’ containing green & blue infrastructure, together with community facilities and new employment space. Bassingthorpe benefits from an existing masterplan, that accompanied the core strategy and Hyas will work in partnership with Open, Fore Consulting, Savills and the Council to review its deliverability and use it as a basis for the new SPD. Our work will include community engagement, drawing on our experience from across a range of Design Codes and SPDs for strategic sites and new communities.
PPAs & PRE-APPLICATIONS BEST PRACTICE
We are pleased to share that we are working with the University of Gloucestershire and the Countryside and Community Research Institute to deliver a Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities’ funded programme on best practice in pre-application advice and planning performance agreements (PPA), for the Planning Advisory Service (PAS).
Our role involves speaking to a range of planning authorities, agents, developers and statutory consultees to understand current key issues, what support and guidance they need and identify best practice. We will preparing updated guidance on these matters for PAS, as well as a framework for PPAs. In addition we will be presenting ideas for future change, improvement and support for LPAs.
